I started with this single frame ink drawing done by Byron. Since the analog ink style was desired, I decided it would be best to do that practically.
I created a representation of this form from simple shapes and animated it. I exported the animation frame by frame and created a few contact sheets from the animations.
Byron then printed these out, "traced" them with ink, and scanned them. I roughly aligned each frame to get a smooth sequence.
Some minimal distortion was later added to make each frame unique, as some elements of the animation such as the blink were animated using as few frames as possible and reusing frames in reverse to complete the blink.
